NMD302 WEEK12

At the final week, we finish all the projects and the final Darwin Festival DVD promotion. I was so proud of our Darwin Festival group. At the last class, everyone had a presentation to talk about their role in the production and the problems that they had overcome. Presentation in the final week is important to share the ways to solve problems and study skills. Because maybe one day the same problems will happen on me, I can solve it properly. Especially the problem happen in the area which I never touch before, it will enhance my knowledge in the future study. Such as DVD Studio, some students told about the Setting in this software.  That is important and even just to know it. Overview this semester, I got more experience on editing and camera handle skills. All of them will benefit for my future study. Thanks to Eric, he provides an opportunity for us to study with a real social (Darwin Festival) and outside class. I believe that will be a good experience for all of us.  

NMD302 WEEK11

Now, only one more week left in this semester. At this wee, we kept going on the final exporting part. firstly, Eric and we check the testing DVD. One problem was showed in the DVD that it has a short gap between starting and ending on the trailer video. We can hear the audio replay again around 3 seconds in this gap. Another thing we need to improve is that the video of Kimiss part and some details from editing. In order to solve the first problem, we looked back the idvd studio system. We try to find the reason that lead to the short gap. From the general setting, we found the duration of video and the setting differs from 3 seconds. So we set them to same and then the gap disappears. Even I am not proposing to do the DVD exporting part; I want to learn some basic knowledge about DVD studio from others. Such as how does the DVD studio works, how to add title on the catalog and how to export the video as a DVD. DVD exporting is the last part of the final part of the Darwin Festival, it is essential for the final product. Studying in different part is always benefit for me and advance my knowledge and study experience.

NMD302 WEEK10

This week, we move to the final part of Darwin Festival DVD. First of all, we collected all the events editing of Darwin Festival and put them together to be one whole Festival promotion. Even this part includes all the editing clips together, it is still need to correct and advance some parts by re-editing. Eric also supports us many suggestions and he points the parts which can be enhanced from editing for the real final product. Then we can improve from the editing every time and make it better and better. During my editing part time, I also watched some Final Cut Pro online tutorials for improving myself. Such as the using of color-correction that it is a great effect for editing. It makes the videos’ editing more fantastic and it also make it come true that it can be adjusted to a film looking for the videos. In my editing part- Kimisis, although the original clips are so dark without a enough lighting situation, color-correction gives me a chance to adjust the background color and make the dark visual much better. From the self study of online FCP tutorials, it gives me more knowledge of FCP and explains what we can edit with video and audios by using it.

NMD302 WEEK9

This week, we start the first editing on Darwin Festival DVD. In this part, my role is to edit FunRun and Kimisis. During the editing, I found it is very import for the audio editing. Firstly, I need to choice the video clips which will be showed on the DVD. All the videos have to connect with the music, such as the tempo. Different video clips have different tempo and it should be mixed the music with the background music of event. At this time, the using of audio transitions is very important. It also should be mentioned that the music should start from one sentence and stop after this sentence finish. The editing of audios is difficult, from one music style to another, from one audio clip to the next one. In order to connect the audio clips that using the audio transitions like the transitions among video clips. Another thing I will mention that FunRun is a very exciting event for people, especially according its music and dancing style. However, the style of Kimisis is totally opposite with FunRun. It is strongly stressful from the background music and the dark lighting environment.

NMD302 WEEK8

After two weeks break, we come back Uni. This week we over view all the Darwin Festival events which had been already upload on YouTube. Eric helps us to find some commons on those event videos and explain the way to solve the problems. Because all the events were included in Darwin Festival, that will be likes a series of videos. In order to show audiences the relationship among videos, the sound level and words’ font should all the same with each other. The transitions among audios were mentioned as well that it is important. It is the best way to keep the audio especially the songs until a whole sentence finish and then transfer to another audio.  After over view the videos, we should move to the next part in this semester—the DVD of Darwin Festival. In the second part, my role is that edit two events which are Fun Run and Kimisis. I was very interested with Fun Run, because it shows the people who from different age group enjoy Darwin Festival and it full of passion. Kimisis is the one that was response to recording and editing by my group few weeks before. So I am familiar with Kimisis as well.

NMD302 WEEK7

This week, we finish all the work ON Darwin Festival. Kimisis as the last one which was recorded and edited by our group that it had already been upload on YouTube. Darwin Festival is a really fantastic event. It supports more opportunities for people who want to know more about Darwin and the culture. It also a great way to promote the impressive of Darwin in Australia and introduced the local culture of Northern Territory for everybody. Study is step by step. Our next step will move to editing the Darwin Festival DVD which will be a promotion of Darwin Festival for next year. I was so proud for our work, because our final product can be shared with other people and brought happy to other people. That is very important for us.
