NMD302 WEEK6

Today we went to Kimisis which is one of the Darwin Festival events. Kimisis is responded by my group and it is the last event for us to record. Kimisis- Falling asleep showed at Brown’s Mart Theatre. Because the requirement of this event is that it only allow one people to go into the performance. So, I decided to do this work and record video. At 6.30 Pm today, I went into the theatre and setting up the camera. 6.46 Pm, it was starting. At the beginning, every audience hold candle went into theatre. In order to create a Kimisis atmosphere, after audience seat down, all the candles were blown out by fans. In brief, it is very dark during the whole performance and only one small yellow light. The light not enough is the first problem, another thing is that the camera focus. Because Kimisis has different light effects, I set camera in Automatic. But the camera focus always not stable, from clear to blurred. This is a big problem during the recording for me. The performance of Kimisis is absolutely amazing. Although it is a short performance only 15 minutes, it full of string music and performing mysterious. That is a really deep-rooted memorable.

NMD302 WEEK5

This week coming Sunday, the performance of the Herd will show on Mindil Beach. The event of the Herd was responsible by my group. Before we go to the event, I should search some related information about the background of the Herd. So that I will know more about this band and prepare to organize what I need to do and record during the performance. The Herd first came together in 2000 which includes two singers, an acoustic, an electric guitar and so on. It is famous for its hard-hitting hip hop sound and fiery performance. The Herd is known by their ethics and lyrical poetry that won over fans. We also need to check all the equipments before we go to the event, such as camera setting and batteries. Making sure everything work well so that we will not miss every part of the shooting and recording on Sunday.

                                  

NMD302 WEEK4

This week TEDx group had already finished collecting all the video and audio resources from the TEDx conversation. They started to do editing. However, for our group, it is time to start working on Darwin Festival. We had a short conversation to discuss and organize everything for Darwin Festival. Eric already helps us to book all the equipments, such as camera, microphone and Maranta Recorder. So that we do not need to worry about borrowing the equipments or the equipment is not available. 

One thing was mentioned in the conversation is that all the equipments should be pay more attention and kept them safely, especially for the microphone. Our Darwin Festival group was divided into 4 small groups for the different events during the festival. After using the equipments that we need to make sure the batteries were charged and then following to another group. It is a important thing before we go to the event to check the batteries and camera setting so that we can keep working during the event. Before the events which responsible by my group, it is good to search some related information for preparing. So, we will know that the most important part of this event and get useful resources. To do it steps by step.

NMD302 WEEK3

This morning class, we got a lot of knowledge about using camera to shoot video. Before we start shooting, three important things were mentioned. The first fact is focus setting on video camera. Normally, we can just use the automatically focus. But if we want to focus on a particularly project, the thing we need to do is that to adjust the Auto/Manual button so that we can make sure the camera keep focusing on this project. Secondly, framing should always follow the moving project and it can be adjusted by using zoom button. The last important thing is that the exposure on camera setting. It is usually keep exposure on automatically. However, because of the different environments and situations, the color of video may become more red and blue so that we can change auto setting to manual setting. By adjusting the exposure balance to make the video color looks more natural. It is the best way to set everything well before we do editing. After learnt the knowledge of using camera, we also were showed how to use the sound recorder.  During our video editing, we also need some speaking of audiences and some sounds to be the background.  So, it is important to know how to set up the sound recorder and use it to record.
